The
Washington State 4-H Advisory Board is a voice for and of the 4-H
program and its volunteers to state 4-H staff and vice versa. By
serving on this board, you can:
- Develop
ideas for expanding, improving, and promoting
educational programs for 4-H youth and leaders.
- Advise
the State 4-H Program Director on program policy and assist with
its implementation.
- Assist
host districts with the planning and execution of high quality
leadership training via the State 4-H Forum.
- Promote
a spirit of friendship and cooperation among 4-H members, leaders,
and Extension staff statewide.
- Act in
an advisory capacity to the State 4-H Ambassadors
program.
- Enhance
the financial base of the State 4-H Program.
- Advocate
at local and state levels for the 4-H Youth Development Program.
The board consists
of 26 adult and teen members representing each of the four districts;
staff from the Challenge, School Age Care, and 4-H Educators programs;
and the State 4-H Program Director in an ex-officio role. The board
as a whole meets three times per year. Work is often sent to committees
to accomplish more throughout the year than three meetings allow.
Committees usually work via telephone conference or e-mail but occasionally
require face-to-face meetings. Travel expense support is provided.
