Performing Arts Develops Talented 4-Hers

4-H Member performs at State FairA single performer played her flute at the Pierce County Fair in 1994.  The next year three youth performed.  Within five years there were 39 kids performing, with their own emcees and some were even running sound.  Today the Pierce County performing arts project has grown to 44 performers who sing, strum, dance and do a myriad of other remarkable artistic endeavors.     Entire story.


Jessica Ubachs4-H Teen Appointed to State
Legislative Youth Advisory Council

After winning the election as Student Body President by five votes Jessica Ubachs, then nine years old, promised her opponent she could be her “helper” as she carried out her duties at Grantham Elementary school in Clarkston.  Inclusion is still key to Jessica as she works with 21 other teens appointed by Lt. Governor Brad Owen to the Washington State Legislative Youth Advisory Council (LYAC).    Entire story.


Genesis Rov in actionSEA-TECH 4-H Club Places at International ROV Competition

For Team Genesis, the college team from Sea-Tech 4-H club in Skagit County, the intensity of months of designing and practicing with their remote operated vehicle (ROV) paid off as they captured third place at the 2009 MATE International ROV Competition in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.   Entire story.

What does 4-H offer you as a teen?

4-H has offered me a lot of opportunities and endless friends.  I’ve Missylearned that no matter who you are there are possibilities to have a strong future. 
4-H has inspired me to work harder and has helped me be a leader and tutor at my school.   I’ve liked learning about college and career options.  I know I can do anything I set my mind to.
